Managing Your Domains at NG Domain
Once you've registered a domain name with NG Domain, you'll have access to a comprehensive control panel to manage all aspects of your domain. Here are some common domain management tasks you can perform:
-
Accessing Your Domain Management Area:
- Log in to your NG Domain client account.
- Navigate to the "My Domains" or "Domain Management" section. Here, you'll see a list of all domains registered under your account.
-
Updating Contact Information (WHOIS Details):
- It's crucial to keep your domain's registrant, administrative, technical, and billing contact information up to date.
- You can usually edit these details through your domain management interface. Accurate WHOIS information is required by ICANN and NIRA.
-
Managing Nameservers:
- Nameservers tell the internet where to find your website and email services.
- If you're using NG Domain's hosting, your nameservers will typically be pre-configured.
- If you're hosting your website elsewhere, you'll need to update your domain's nameservers to point to your hosting provider's servers. You can do this in the DNS management section for your domain.
-
DNS Record Management:
- You have full control over your domain's DNS records if you're using our nameservers. This includes:
- A Records: Point your domain or subdomains to an IP address (e.g., your web server).
- CNAME Records: Alias one domain name to another (e.g.,
www.yourdomain.ng
pointing to yourdomain.ng
).
- MX Records: Specify mail servers responsible for receiving emails for your domain.
- TXT Records: Used for various verification purposes (e.g., SPF, DKIM for email authentication, site verification for Google Search Console).
- And other record types like AAAA (for IPv6), SRV, etc.
-
Domain Forwarding / URL Redirects:
- Set up domain forwarding to redirect visitors from one domain (or a specific page) to another URL. This is useful if you have multiple domains or change your primary website address.
-
Email Forwarding:
-
Domain Locking:
- To prevent unauthorized transfers of your domain, you can enable a "registrar lock" or "domain lock." This adds an extra layer of security. You'll need to unlock it if you intend to transfer the domain to another registrar.
-
Auto-Renewal Settings:
- You can typically manage auto-renewal settings for your domains. Enabling auto-renewal helps prevent accidental expiration of your domain. You'll be billed automatically before the expiration date.
-
Domain Privacy (WHOIS Protection):
- If you've purchased domain privacy, this service helps protect your personal information from being publicly visible in WHOIS lookups by replacing it with generic contact details from the privacy service provider. You can manage this service where applicable.
-
Initiating Domain Transfers Out (EPP Code):
- If you need to transfer your domain to another registrar, you'll typically request an EPP (Authorization) Code from your NG Domain control panel.
NG Domain provides an intuitive interface to manage all these aspects and more. If you ever need assistance, our support team is available to help.
