Renewing Your Domain with NG Domain
Renewing your domain name on time is crucial to ensure your website and email services remain active and to prevent losing your domain to someone else. NG Domain makes this process easy.
Why Renew Your Domain?
- Maintain Ownership: Renewal extends your rights to use the domain name.
- Keep Services Active: Your website, emails, and other services linked to the domain will continue to function without interruption.
- Prevent Loss: If a domain expires and is not renewed within the grace periods, it can become available for others to register.
How to Renew Your Domain:
-
Login to Your Account:
- Go to the NG Domain website and log in to your client area using your credentials.
-
Navigate to "My Domains":
- Once logged in, find the section typically labeled "My Domains," "Manage Domains," or similar. This will list all the domains registered under your account.
-
Identify Domains Nearing Expiration:
- Your domain list will usually show the expiration date for each domain. Pay attention to domains expiring soon.
- NG Domain will also send you email reminders before your domain's expiration date.
-
Select Domain(s) for Renewal:
- Select the domain(s) you wish to renew. There's often a checkbox next to each domain or a "Renew" button associated with it.
-
Choose Renewal Period:
- You can typically renew your domain for one or more years (up to the maximum allowed for that TLD, often 10 years).
- The price for renewal will be displayed based on the selected period.
-
Proceed to Checkout/Payment:
- Add the renewal to your cart and proceed to checkout.
- Confirm your billing information and choose your preferred payment method.
- Complete the payment.
-
Confirmation:
- After successful payment, you will receive a confirmation of your domain renewal.
- The expiration date for your domain in your NG Domain account will be updated.
Auto-Renewal:
- Convenience: To avoid accidentally letting your domain expire, consider enabling the "Auto-Renewal" feature.
- How it Works: If auto-renewal is enabled, NG Domain will automatically attempt to renew your domain and charge your default payment method shortly before its expiration date.
- Management: You can usually enable or disable auto-renewal for each domain from your domain management panel. Ensure your payment information is up to date if you use this feature.
What Happens if a Domain Expires?
- Grace Period: Most registrars offer a grace period (e.g., 0-40 days, varies by TLD and registrar) after expiration during which you can renew the domain, usually at the standard renewal price. Your website and email services may stop functioning during this period.
- Redemption Period: After the grace period, the domain may enter a "Redemption Period" (e.g., 30 days). Renewing during this phase is often possible but usually incurs a significantly higher fee (redemption fee + renewal fee).
- Pending Deletion: If not renewed during the redemption period, the domain enters a "Pending Deletion" phase (e.g., 5 days), after which it is released and becomes available for public registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
It's always best to renew your domain well before its expiration date or enable auto-renewal to ensure uninterrupted service and retain ownership.
