Mailbox Passwords and Account Security

Reset a password

The domain owner, or a developer with access to the domain, can set a new password:

  1. On the domain's Email tab, click ⋯ next to the mailbox and choose Reset password.
  2. Click Generate or type a new password, then Set password.
  3. Share the new password with the mailbox's user. Apps signed in with the old one will ask for it.

We never store or show mailbox passwords, so a lost password can only be replaced, not recovered.

Choose a strong password

At least 10 characters, and not a common word or pattern. A few random words joined together, like the ones Generate makes, are both strong and memorable. The mail server rejects passwords that are easy to guess and says why.

Two-factor authentication

Webmail doesn't offer two-factor sign-in yet. The sign-in page shows I have a 2FA code, but there's no way to turn it on, so you won't need one. Until it's available, give each mailbox its own strong password and change it if it may have been shared.

If you think a mailbox is compromised

Reset its password immediately, then contact support. If a mailbox sends a lot of spam, its sending is paused automatically until the owner turns it back on.

🎉 New look, same great service! Our refreshed website is easier to use and faster than ever.
