Securing Your NG Domain Account
Your NG Domain account controls your domains, so it's worth protecting. Here's how sign-in works and what you can do to keep your account and domains safe.
1. How Sign-In Works
NG Domain doesn't use passwords. When you sign in, we email a 6-digit code to the address on your account, and you enter it to continue. That makes your email inbox the key to your account.
2. Secure Your Email Inbox
- Use a strong, unique password for the email account you sign in with.
- Turn on two-factor authentication with your email provider.
- Keep your recovery phone number and backup email up to date with your email provider.
3. Never Share Your Sign-In Code
- Only enter a code on
ngdomain.ngordash.ngdomain.ng. Check the address bar before you type it. - NG Domain will never ask you for your sign-in code by phone, WhatsApp or email.
- If you receive a code you didn't ask for, someone may have typed your email address. Don't share it with anyone.
4. Watch Out for Phishing
- Be wary of messages that urge you to renew, verify or transfer a domain through an unfamiliar link.
- When in doubt, go to the dashboard yourself instead of clicking a link, or contact support to check the message is genuine.
5. Protect Your Domains
- Keep your domains locked. A registrar lock stops anyone from transferring a domain away without your say-so. Only unlock a domain when you mean to transfer it.
- Keep your contact details current. Renewal reminders and transfer approvals go to these addresses.
- WHOIS privacy is included free with every registration and keeps your personal contact details out of public lookups.
- Consider DNSSEC. It signs your DNS records so visitors can't be sent to a forged copy of your site.
- Renew on time. An expired domain can be lost to someone else.
6. Secure Your Devices
- Keep your computer, phone and browser updated.
- Avoid signing in on shared or public computers.
